6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA)

The 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA) is the voice of European Industry and Research for next generation networks and services. Its primary objective is to contribute to Europe’s leadership on 5G, beyond 5G and SNS/6G research. The 6G-IA represents the private side in both the 5G Public Private Partnership (5G-PPP) and the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU).

5G-PPP white paper

“View on 5G Architecture ver4.0” 5G-PPP white paper. In Version 4.0, the Architecture Working Group (WG) provides a consolidated view of the architectural efforts developed in the projects of the 5G PPP and other research efforts, including standardization. This serves not only to review the current state of the 5G architecture, but to also identify promising trends towards the next generation of mobile and wireless communication networks, namely 6G. 5G!Drones pre-trials at Aalto University

Pre-trials were executed at Aalto University on Friday 20 August 2021 as part of 5GDrones project . Involved 5G!Drones partners validated use cases with 5G flights including scenarios where the remote pilot (not the PIC) takes over the control and pilots the aircraft with a tethered joystick. The pilot used the video stream from the aircraft’s onboard camera, streamed over 5G network. Read more “5G!Drones pre-trials at Aalto University”

5G-PPP Phase 3 Projects Brochure 2021

The 5G-PPP Phase 3 Projects Brochure was released in June 2021. Phase 3 is now fully launched and it has 53 projects not only performing experiments with new technologies and applications in user focused pilots, but also has some project looking beyond 5G to see how we can further improve the communications infrastructure and, based on what we have learned developing 5G, start considering where further advances are possible and what could be learnt in 2030 from 6G. 5G-PPP white paper “European Vision for the 6G Network…

The 5G IA published the White Paper ‘European Vision for the 6G Network Ecosystem’ edited by the “Vision and Societal Challenges Work Group”. This White Paper is a major milestone at a time when the 5G IA is preparing for the next chapter in the mobile communications story with the new ‘Smart Networks and Services’ (SNS) European Partnership in the framework of the Horizon Europe programme. 5G!Drones partners have also contributed to this paper. 5G!Drones in 5G-PPP journal publication

The 5G-PPP – The European 5G Annual Journal 2021 by 5G-PPP and 5G-IA was released in May 2021. In the timeframe of this annual report the last set of 5G PPP projects have started. These projects cover vital areas such as 5G innovations for verticals with third party services (ICT-41), 5G core technologies innovation (ICT-42) and Smart Connectivity beyond 5G (ICT-52).
