Considering COVID-19 impact and safety restrictions that apply worldwide, the 4th 5GDrones GA plenary meeting was organized remotely! This virtual GA run for 2 days (25-26 May 2020) discussing the project progress, architecture, submitted and upcoming deliverables, trial activities, review preparation and goals to be met.
Gokul Srinivasan from Robots.Expert, 5GDrones project partner, presented remotely “Challenges and Benefits of 5G in Urban Air Mobility” at the AERCOMM workshop, co-organized by 5G!Drones and EU-Korea PriMO-5G projects, at IEEE WCNC 2020 (virtual), 25 May 2020.
A 5G!Drones conference paper by partners Orange Poland and DroneRadar, entitled “5G–UASP: 5G-based multi-provider UAV platform architecture”, has been accepted at IEEE Conference on Network Softwarization, 29 June – 3 July 2020 (Virtual Conference). 5G!Drones, a European project bringing together industrialists, network operators and research centers, was launched in June 2019 for a three-year period. It should ultimately validate the use of 5G for delivery services by drone. Adlen Ksentini, a researcher at EURECOM, a key partner in the 5G!Drones project, explains the challenges involved.
The 5GPPP and the three ICT-17 Phase 3 projects 5GENESIS, 5GEVE and 5GVINNI released the white paper “On Board Procedure to 5GPPP Infrastructure Projects“. This white paper describes the basic procedures that must be followed when vertical sector oriented projects of the 5GPPP plan to use the 5GPPP infrastructure project services.
5G!Drones Paper entitled “A Service-Based Architecture for enabling UAV enhanced Network Services” by Aalto University and University of Oulu was accepted at IEEE Network Magazine for publication. EuCNC 2020 goes Virtual!
