5G!Drones pre-trials at Aalto University

Pre-trials were executed at Aalto University on Friday 20 August 2021 as part of 5GDrones project . Involved 5G!Drones partners validated use cases with 5G flights including scenarios where the remote pilot (not the PIC) takes over the control and pilots the aircraft with a tethered joystick. Nokia White Paper referencing 5G!Drones use cases

The following White paper “Controlling drones over cellular networks” was published by Nokia (5G!Drones partner) in June 2021. This white paper references 5G!Drones “D1.1 – Use case specifications and requirements” and provided vital insights about 5G!Drones use cases. In this short paper NOKIA presents how cellular networks can provide reliable connectivity to UASs and how high throughput applications from drones can be supported at the same time. 5G-PPP Phase 3 Projects Brochure 2021

The 5G-PPP Phase 3 Projects Brochure was released in June 2021. Phase 3 is now fully launched and it has 53 projects not only performing experiments with new technologies and applications in user focused pilots, but also has some project looking beyond 5G to see how we can further improve the communications infrastructure and, based on what we have learned developing 5G, start considering where further advances are possible and what could be learnt in 2030 from 6G. 5G-PPP white paper “European Vision for the 6G Network…

The 5G IA published the White Paper ‘European Vision for the 6G Network Ecosystem’ edited by the “Vision and Societal Challenges Work Group”. This White Paper is a major milestone at a time when the 5G IA is preparing for the next chapter in the mobile communications story with the new ‘Smart Networks and Services’ (SNS) European Partnership in the framework of the Horizon Europe programme. 5G!Drones partners have also contributed to this paper. Aalto University showcases 5G!Drones

Aalto University, 5G!Drones partner, has performed a small showcasing event on 27th May 2021. The showcasing was for the benefit of first graders students from the international school of Espoo, Finland. AU presented its current work related to cellular drones and virtual reality (VR) as part of 5G!Drones activities and also presented a demo of streaming a 360 video from flying drones.
